The Long Island Videographers Association (LIVA) was founded in 1988 by James Kennedy who also became LIVA's first President and remained so up until the year of 1997. LIVA was created so that local wedding videographers could come together to learn about new technologies and techniques, while networking with other dedicated professionals. Today, we are the largest local video association with members coming from all across Long Island, the five boroughs of NYC and Westchester.

• Networking- An hour before the meeting starts, you can network with other video professionals.
• Education- Get in-depth knowledge from our peers and other pros from a wide range of fields.
  
• LIVA On-line Yahoo Group Email Service- only current members can join this free email group at Yahoo which provides a place for job listings and equipment for sale, etc.
  
• Monthy Newsletter- every month our members receive a free newsletter, which provides info on upcoming and past meetings, articles by our peers, classified ads and much more.
  
• Camaraderie- one of the best things about LIVA is the lasting friendships we make with our peers. We have an annual picnic and holiday party so that we can let loose and have some fun.
  
• The promotion of goodwill and advancement of videography in the New York area.
• Fun events such as LIVA's Summer Picnic free to all members, and the chance to attend our Holiday Party and Annual Mets Game
• The Creative Excellence Awards. At every other meeting you get to see the best work being created in the NY area in 5 different categories.  Competition is open to all LIVA members in good standing who have been in the organization for 1 month.
